Prince William Will Participate in COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil
Prince William plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in South America in the coming weeks, according to palace sources.
The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a reception leading up to the climate summit, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belém.
The King and Prince were in attendance at the museum gathering, marking an rare public appearance together at a environmental conference preliminary meeting arranged together with the United Kingdom administration.
Climate Leadership Commitment
The King has been a long-time champion of protecting nature - and the Prince of Wales has assumed the responsibility, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be hosted in Rio before the COP summit.
Palace insiders have described the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as taking on an crucial position in "global climate discussions".
Previous Activities
The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the royal vehicle, were greeted guests including conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and politicians.
This participation included speaking together with French leader Macron of France and other world leaders at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.
Environmental Prize Link
The COP30 summit will coincide with the prince's own climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the previous day he joins the COP summit on the sixth of November.
Last week the prince referred to the award contenders as "contemporary champions".
Royal Climate Legacy
The King has been a prominent presence at previous climate summits, giving the opening address in Dubai for COP28, including the statement: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".
"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the critical dangers facing us over global warming, climate change and species extinction," the monarch informed participants.
